Tight Spots, Addition Excavation and Footer

Keenan Inc has become accustom to doing tight jobs where minimal disturbance is a necessity. It is important to have the right equipment for the job. On this particular job we brought in a little smaller equipment than would normally be used because there was tight access to the location of the new addition.

Here, we were contracted to excavate and pour foundation footing for a breakfast room addition. The property has beautiful gardens and mature landscaping. Care was taken in minimizing the disturbance to the lawn, especially before the winter, when getting new grass seed to germinate is out of the question.

Upper Providence Township Sewer Project

Keenan Construction and excavating Inc is currently providing estimates for lower pressure sewer connections in Upper Providence Township.
We can provide competitive bids for trenchless pipe installation. The advantage of trenchless pipe installation is the minimum disturbance and minimal restoration to the property. In areas where trenchless installation is not possible, Keenan Construction will restore your property to the highest standard.
Do you have grading and drainage problems? Keenan Construction can provide pricing to fix these issues "while we are in there"
during the time of sewer construction.
Do you have future plans for your property such as a building addition or swimming pool? We take all potential future plans under consideration so your new low pressure sewer system will accommodate any future property upgrades you may consider.
Keenan Construction and Excavating Inc can provide a free estimate for your low pressure sewer system.

Outdoor Living Space

Over the last 4 months we have created an outdoor living space for one of our clients. The bulk of the construction was in multiple boulder retaining walls to create a large outdoor living area, and multiple tiers around the property to create yard space.
The focal point of the patio and outdoor living space is this fireplace built into the irregular boulder wall.

Outdoor Fireplace

The boulder retaining wall is part of a custom masonry and hardscaping project. In this project, we are creating outdoor living space in an otherwise limited area. The boulder retaining wall is both a landscape feature and functional retaining wall, retaining the earth where we have excavated into a hillside.
Below are pictures of the early stages of the construction of an outdoor fireplace. The fireplace will be incorporated in the boulder wall and will help give the feel of a true outdoor living area.

Excavating, Site Work

Here are some pictures of a custom home project we have been on for the past year. Keenan Construction and Excavating, Inc. was contracted to do the site work, excavation, grading, stormwater system, septic system, and final grading. The end product is a beautiful custom home, built to the highest standard, by www.hazleybuilders.com/ , set on a picturesque lot.

Drip Irrigation Septic System

Keenan Construction and Excavating, Inc. is currently installing a drip irrigation septic system.
The drip irrigation system offers a unique method for subsurface distribution of wastewater. The installation of a drip irrigation system has less site impact than conventional septic systems. Drip systems are viable alternatives to unsightly mound systems and spray irrigation systems.
The pictures show the laterals, and Paul making the loop connections at the ends of the laterals.

What you don't see.

This picture is a great illustration of why quality excavation and underground plumbing is so important. On a million dollar house, this is a job you only want to do once. A short cut or corner cutting on a project can be devastating for homeowners especially if the contractor is no longer in business. Even though our work is out of site our installations are built to outlast the home as seen here.

Recycling Rebar!

This is an important aspect of demolition that is not widely addressed. Rebar is easily recycled and valuable production resource. We were able to recycle 90% of the materials on this project. Our goal is to participate in the reuse of all materials on our job sites.

EARTH DAY 2010 Thinking about Nicaragua the porest coutry in the Americas.

We have made 3 trips to Nicaragua to work with El Porvenir on a number of projects from wells to reforestation. Most people in Nicaragua truly live from the Earth and here you see how polluted streams and loss of trees effects the quality of life of people. The loss of forests in Nicaragua has reduced rainfall, caused deadly landslides, increased soil erosion, and reduced rainwater infiltration and aquifer recharge rates. Once host to over 9,000 different species of trees and plants, Nicaragua has lost approximately 50% of its forest cover since 1950.

El Porvenir is seeking to change the direction of this cycle through our reforestion and fuel-efficient cook stove programs.

2009 Results:
159 families constructed 159 fuel efficient stoves.
540 families planted five or more fruit trees.
2,970 people involved in planting trees.
Over 85,000 trees planted.

The project impacted beneficiaries by:
Reducing the volume of wood cut for cooking fuel by 60%.

Reducing the time spent by children gathering wood for cooking in beneficiary villages (thereby allowing more time for children to attend school).

Reducing eye and respiratory disease among women and children in beneficiary villages by eliminating indoor smoke.

Increasing environmental awareness and stewardship of community watersheds and forestry resource.
Protecting the watershed EP water projects depend on.
